Appointment System

Appointments

Telephone lines will open at 8am Monday to Friday.   Our telephone lines are very busy between 8am-11am with requests for on the day appointments and housecalls.   Patients who are contacting the practice to make a routine appointment should telephone after 11am.

On the Day Appointment Requests

If you feel that you have symptoms that need to be assessed on the same day then our Reception team will add you to a triage list and you will be assessed on the telephone by one of our clinicians in the first instance.   The Clinician will arrange a time for you to come into the practice if they consider an examination to be required.

During your initial telephone call with our Receptionist you will be asked some questions to allow them to direct you to the most appropriate person for your need.   Our Reception team require this information to ensure that you receive the right care at the right time in the right place.   Our Reception team are bound by the same confidentiality rules as our clinicians.

It is important that you keep your telephone line free and are available for the Clinician to call back at any time during the day.

Telephone lines are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am-5:30pm with triage running daily.  Once triage lists are full then we will have reached capacity for that day and you will be advised to telephone the next working day or signposted to another service if this is more appropriate for your needs.

Please be aware that requests for on the day appointments will be taken by telephone only and not in person at the Reception desk.

Routine Appointments

We offer bookable routine face to face appointments and telephone appointments with the GP and Nursing teams.   It is important that you book a face to face appointment if you think that you will require a physical examination.   Routine appointments with the GPs are available to book one week in advance.

The Practice offers appointments on a Thursday evening with the GPs from 6pm-8:30pm.   These appointments are limited therefore we politely request that those who can attend during normal surgery hours do not request these appointments.

To book an appointment please telephone 01383 518500 Monday to Friday between 11am-5:30pm.  If you are registered for EMIS Patient Access you can login here.

Text Reminder

Text reminders are being sent to patients.   It is important that you ensure that your mobile telephone number is updated on your medical records.   Please speak with our Reception team to update your details or do so using the update details form.  If you do not wish to receive text message reminders then please speak to Reception who will ask you to complete an opt-out form.

Booking Appointments Online using EMIS Patient Access

You can register to book routine GP appointments online using EMIS Patient Access.   Please contact the practice via email, Fife.cmpfeedback@nhs.scot or speak with our Reception team for further information on how to register for this service.   We will ask you to provide some identification to register for this service in order that we verify your identity.

Appointment Cancellation and Late Attendance

Attending late for your appointment may result in you being asked to rebook.

If you need to cancel or change your appointment it is important that you let us know as soon as possible.  There are approximately 300 appointments wasted on a monthly basis due to non-attendance which could be offered to another patient.

You can cancel your appointment by:-

  • Replying CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message
  • Telephoning 01383 518500 and speaking with the Reception team
  • Cancelling via the Patient Access system if you are registered to book appointments online
  • In person at Reception

Persistent non- attend their appointments may be removed from the Practice list and asked to register with another practice in their area.  Further information relating to our non-attendance policyhere (DOCX, 21KB)
